Acupuncture
Acupuncture is carried out by inserting very fine, disposable needles into specific points for approximately 15–20 minutes. The insertion of the needles is very shallow and usually painless. Most patients become deeply relaxed while the needles are in place, and many fall asleep during treatment.
An individual acupuncture session lasts approximately 45-60 minutes. The length of the treatment depends on the condition being treated, as well as the individuals’ response to the treatment. On a general basis, a series of treatments are suggested to achieve maximum benefits. The number of treatments needed will depend on the condition being treated, and whether the symptoms are chronic or acute.
Treatment often involves a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine. Acupuncture and herbal therapies compliment each other and enhance the healing process.
